Texas Rio Grande (Cichlasoma cynoguttatus) Cichlid

The Texas Cichlid, also known as Rio Grande requires a tank of at least 50 gallons, with a fine sand bottom. The plants should be hardy as they will burrow around them. This Cichlid is sensitive to water conditions and requires frequent changes of 1/4-1/2 of the water weekly. The females are less brightly colored and usually smaller than the males.
